Le lac lui-même est une gravière pittoresque, d'environ 70 acres, située dans le parc aquatique Cotswold. Il offre un large éventail d'options en termes de styles de pêche, de la traque dans les marges de mauvaises herbes claires au gin à la pêche sur un grand lit d'appât au milieu de l'étang, ainsi que d'être un lieu réputé pour les pêcheurs souhaitant cibler une tanche de taille spécimen. et Rudd. Cette dernière méthode de grands lits d'appâts s'est avérée la plus réussie pour moi pendant mon temps de pêche là-bas.
Lors des voyages précédents, j'avais toujours réussi à attraper quelques poissons à chaque visite. Cependant, l'une de mes premières sessions vraiment mémorables a eu lieu au printemps 2018. J'ai eu la chance de monter dans l'un des piquets en cours à Winter Bay, en nageant qui m'a permis de pêcher quelques endroits dégagés un peu plus de 80 mètres dehors, situé au sommet d'une barre de gravier qui traverse la baie, de l'autre côté. Winter Bay est le côté le plus grand et le plus profond du point principal qui forme la forme de fer à cheval, et représente probablement environ la moitié de la superficie totale des lacs, tandis que le plus étroit et le moins profond
Comme d'habitude, je n'avais qu'un maximum de 24 heures à ma disposition, donc en arrivant au lac dans l'après-midi, je voulais appâter les taches avec quelques kilos de chanvre et une bouillette hachée, puis placer mes tiges fermement sur le lit et attendre pour le matin inévitable
Étant donné que les sociétés de la carpe n'ont pas de règles de leader et de barbless, et que le lac est un puits de mauvaises herbes classique, ma configuration devrait compléter cet environnement de test. Dans cet esprit, j'ai utilisé une ligne principale en laquelle j'avais la plus grande confiance, la GT80 en 15 lb. Je me suis toujours bien entendu avec cette ligne, depuis que j'ai commencé à l'utiliser sur Welly. Il s'agit d'une ligne dure et très résistante à l'abrasion qui est incroyablement facile à couler. Essentiellement, cela signifie qu'il me permet de refondre avec précision, en posant des hameçons sur les petites zones appâtées avec un minimum de perturbations. Avec des cannes et des appâts correctement positionnés sur les spots, j'étais confiant que le lac et la carpe seraient très prévisibles, et lorsque les premiers signes de l'aube sont apparus, mes ATT rouges se sont allumés et le récepteur a éclaté, et après une courte bataille, j'ai eu l'un des stockys récemment introduit dans le lac a englouti en toute sécurité dans la épuisette en attente. Avec le soleil toujours levant et la surface des lacs toujours comme un étang, je pouvais encore voir des signes subtils d'activité sur place et c'est dès que j'ai glissé ce premier poisson en arrière que j'étais immédiatement dans un autre, reproduisant la première rencontre, j'ai bientôt avait un autre trapu dans le filet.
À ce moment-là, je pensais qu'un banc d'entre eux avait pris goût à ma zone appâtée, mais heureusement, je me suis trompé quand une course féroce s'est produite sur ma canne restante qui était pêchée juste à gauche sur le lieu d'appât principal. Cette bataille était totalement différente de la précédente succession de piqûres! C'était beaucoup plus brutal, et j'étais absolument convaincu que j'étais attaché à quelque chose qui était une ligue différente tous ensemble. Finalement, après avoir guidé le poisson à travers deux grosses mauvaises herbes, j'ai cajolé en toute sécurité une apparence vierge au-dessus du cordon du filet. Moins de 5 minutes plus tard, ma canne gauche était partie avec une belle ligne linéaire dans le filet. Avec la tige rapidement repositionnée, il ne fallut pas longtemps avant que le milieu ne soit éloigné et la chance de la dame était de mon côté, quand l'un des miroirs linéaires d'origine Horseshoe glissa gracieusement sur le cordon du filet. Je voulais profiter du sort d'alimentation de l'aube, alors avec un autre gréement Ronnie préparé, il a été rapidement repositionné fermement sur la zone appâtée. Ma dernière session mémorable a coïncidé avec un article sur le lieu avec les gars de Total Carp. Avec la pression supplémentaire d'avoir des caméras à portée de main, j'étais impatient de pêcher dans une zone où j'avais déjà connu un certain succès, Winter Bay bien sûr. Après avoir préparé les pièges pour la nuit, avec une bonne dose d'appât appliqué sur le dessus, j'ai reçu une bouchée aux premières heures de la matinée, ce qui a malheureusement entraîné une traction de crochet au milieu de la bataille. Malheureusement, sur un lac où il y a une règle stricte d'hameçon sans ardillon et beaucoup de mauvaises herbes, il y a toujours une chance accrue qu'un hameçon occasionnel saute de temps en temps.
Comme il faisait encore sombre et sachant que j'avais encore deux autres cannes à pêche sur place, je n'ai pas refondu car nous entrions dans le premier sort classique d'alimentation légère. Juste au moment où l'aube se levait, mes petits ATT se sont effondrés et j'étais de nouveau au combat avec une carpe de combat acharnée. Avec la pression de la caméra Total Carp qui s'est cassée, j'ai doucement cajolé le miroir et plongé le filet sous une magnifique carpe miroir qui était dans le support supérieur de 20 lb, une excellente carpe de Horseshoe! Quel beau résultat, et la pression était tombée.
