Je me sens béni d'avoir eu la chance d'observer une gravière de 4 acres, située près de chez moi, devenir le lieu incroyable qu'il est maintenant. Cette transformation s'est produite depuis 2012; et le site en eau profonde (jusqu'à 32 pieds de profondeur) est maintenant un merveilleux lac de syndicat mature qui est extrêmement bien géré et un plaisir à visiter. Tous ses membres sont abordables et sympathiques, et la carpe est maintenant un mélange bien intégré d'environ 60 originaux et un lot de nouveaux stocks très spéciaux de carpe de souche Hazelmere et Dinton qui ont été introduits au cours des deux derniers hivers.
Pendant mon séjour sur l'eau, j'ai eu la chance de capturer ses plus grands habitants et, par chance, j'ai fréquemment détenu le record du lac pendant des périodes car la carpe a inévitablement augmenté de poids au cours des huit dernières années.

Ayant galivé autour de deux grandes fosses de 40 acres durant l'été et jusqu'au début de l'automne, j'ai pris la décision consciente de retourner dans la fosse profonde pour l'automne et l'hiver. Nous avons tous perdu une famille chérie et des amis proches. C'était fin 2013 lorsqu'un de mes amis proches et de nombreuses autres personnes ont malheureusement perdu sa bataille contre le cancer. Paul Smith (alias Smithy) aimait sa famille, ses amis et sa pêche à la carpe. Au fil des ans, nous avons pêché de nombreuses eaux ensemble, et nous traversions également le canal pour pêcher en France. C'était lors d'une session d'hiver très froide en mars de la même année, alors que nous étions sur un lac Wasing, cette année-là, Smithy a partagé son diagnostic avec quelques-uns d'entre nous. Après une nuit très humide le 25 octobre, lorsque la canne est restée immobile, c'est très tôt le lendemain matin que j'ai piégé une carpe et mordu, et j'ai immédiatement su que j'étais connecté à quelque chose de beaucoup plus gros. Vous voyez, après le blanc la veille, j'ai fait quelque chose que j'ai fait avant et je suis sûr que j'ai eu la morsure, j'ai déplacé une tige d'une bonne longueur de tige sur le côté de la zone appâtée. Je ne concentrais pas mes offres gratuites de 12 mm HNV dans un seul endroit serré; Je l'étalais dans une zone à peu près carrée de deux tiges, encourageant les poissons à se nourrir sur une zone assez importante. Le directeur de la pêche est venu gentiment et a aidé avec des photos et des séquences vidéo. Smithy s'est comporté impeccablement sur le tapis et avait l'air en parfait état. À 43 lb 4 oz, elle était maintenant aussi un nouveau record de lac (encore)! Donc, ma troisième capture de ce poisson et à chaque fois elle avait pris la couronne en tant que roi du lac. L'emballage ce matin était lent, réfléchissant et sans effort. Cela semble aléatoire, mais l'odeur de mon tapis de séchage, de mon élingue et de ma veste sur la clôture était même agréable.
